It was cloudy yesterday morning and we had to deploy our umbrellas several times during our early walk. But the early light and clouds made for some spectacular views. Here’s a sample, looking past the point at the entrance to Kaaawa and toward Kaneohe. Just click for a larger version.
Senator Inouye endorsed Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid yesterday but the announcement by the Clinton campaign hasn’t generated much mainland interest, according to a quick Google search this a.m. It’s interesting that Inouye didn’t surface personally to make the endorsement or to comment. Instead, this was done via a written release from the Clinton campaign.
A reader commented on last night’s gathering at the convention center featuring Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, Ollie North:
A fine group to talk patriotism- a Fox talking head
chickenhawk, a serial adulterer and a convicted liar. I
also love the fact the liar/war monger is an invited
guest at Wayne Corderio’s New Hope Church this
weekend. They’re really pushing it on KSSK. God pays
well.
On a lighter note, my attention was snagged by the announcement of a new CD and vinyl album from Waitiki, described as “The world’s only performers and drinkers of exotic tiki-tainment from Polynesia and beyond….”
WAITIKI has been whisking their listeners to their self-created imaginary world of Okonkuluku since 2003. The band is one of only two bands in the world performing the original style of lounge and Polynesian pop known as exotica (or tiki music). Charred Mammal Flesh: Exotic Music for BBQ, their debut release from 2005, won a Hawai’i Music Award for “Best Album: Exotica” - a category that the band re-introduced to this awards ceremony. WAITIKI, which is led by Hawai’i native and bassist Randy Wong (Professor Humming Flower), has performed in the US and internationally.
Ah, and how about another update on Oreo, the feline formerly known as Mr. Kitten. We had a site visit yesterday and can report that he’s in good hands over in his new home. He was alternatively rolling down the long hallways or following feet wherever they happened to be going. When the kids arrived, he was happily passed from hand to hand as his admirers all wanted their moment of full attention. He’s going to be a real cutie when he’s a bit older.
