•”Meeting /banquet rooms, food and beverage service for seminar in Tokyo”, [...]

Monday, continued…Affording UH, spam, cyber warfare, some blog reading, and more

June 25th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Yesterday’s entry concerning the poor state of building maintenance at the University of Hawaii’s Manoa Campus again forces the question–how can the state possibly afford to build, staff, operate and maintain an entire new West Oahu campus when we can’t seem to afford to keep the ones we have in good working order?

It’s Feline Friday…Cutbacks at the Advertiser and outsourcing at Reuters

June 22nd, 2007 · 4 Comments

Outsourcing journalism: I was checking news to see why the stock of an electric meter manufacturer had dropped over 10 points yesterday, and quickly found a Reuters story distributed on Yahoo’s Finance pages. It was a straightforward story about this American company hurt by an equivocal statement by a major customer. The surprising thing [...]

Thursday…Congressional earmarks, real time investigations, and May’s photos

June 21st, 2007 · No Comments

A reader in Punaluu recommends the Algalita Marine Research Foundation’s web site for its information on the plastics in the ocean environment.
This next site has nothing to do with plastics, but is a great source of info and ideas. Real Time Investigations is a project of the Sunlight Foundation which tracks two journalists digging through [...]
