Thursday…Lt. Gov’s newsletter gets email boost, latest move by Ed Case, and groups say they don’t support chaining

July 19th, 2007 · No Comments

Lt. Governor Aiona’s weekly electronic newsletter is now being distributed to state employees via the state’s internal email system. Previously only the governor’s newsletter was sent out in this fashion, or so I’m told.

A copy forwarded to me last week shows that it was sent out to personnel contacts in each state department by the Dept. of Human Resources Development, and then apparently forwarded to employees in those departments.

I’m sure this new distribution has nothing to do with Aiona’s shift into campaign mode. Right?

This week’s newsletter features, well, several photos of Aiona during public appearances, a list of where you’ll be able to see him at upcoming events, as well as images of local newspaper articles on state-related subjects. Not much else there.

Speaking of candidates, Richard Borreca has a good story in today’s Star-Bulletin on Ed Case’s latest move, a solicitation mailed to previous donors seeking contributions to an unspecified campaign.

Saturday’s entry here concerning chaining of dogs has drawn several responses in defense of the Hawaii Dog Foundation from readers who clarify that the foundation opposes the practice of chaining dogs in the yard and forgetting them. A KHON report also made clear that the Human Society also opposes chaining.

Coincidentally in the next month, the Humane Society will begin a public campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of chaining.

So it appears that the original news reports that upset a reader did not make clear enough the difference between the objections to an anonymous letter about chaining and the organization’s own opposition to chaining.

I’m certainly glad to have that clarified.

It’s damp, cloudy, and threatening in Kaaawa this morning. Just about time to head out and greet the sunrise.

By the way, have you noticed that this site is closing in on a million visits? Stand by…
