I’ve had a request from someone looking for a kitten for his daughter’s birthday, which is coming up real quick.
If you’ve got kittens looking for a home, let me know and I’ll pass the info on [email: ian(at)ilind.net], or just post a comment here.
Thanks!

Thursday…More public maintenance issues, Chang still oblivious on ethics, and info beach access signage

January 24th, 2008 · No Comments

A couple of stories caught my eye in yesterday’s Advertiser.
Eloise Aguiar had a good one on the lack of maintenance, repair, and replacement of city playground equipment. A lot of playgrounds are in poor or dangerous condition but the city hasn’t had a system for tracking problems.
Dana Takahara-Dias, deputy director for the Department of [...]

Asked specifically about a state Senate campaign, Bainum said: “I’m looking at several races. I have not [...]

January 20th, 2008 · No Comments

It’s official. 365 days and counting. President Bush will become “former” and depart from our daily lives one year from today, on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009.
From former islander Karen Waygood, writing from Atlanta:
Just discovered fact: Snowflakes swirling in streetlamp light look remarkably like termites swarming in summertime.
It’s 17 degrees now!
But do snowflakes mean the [...]

Word from Restaurant Row is that the Star-Bulletin is hiring itself an investigative reporter. And not necessarily your typical reporter. John Dougherty left the Phoenix New Times weekly in 2006. He was perhaps best known recently for his targeting of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, but he’s been knee deep in scandal and corruption through [...]

January 18th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Yesterday’s breaking news that freeway traffic was snarled after a 2-year old was thrown off an overpass into passing traffic hit while everyone was still trying to digest and deal with news of the Wednesday night’s incident in Kailua in which a woman was beaten to death in a well-used street in front of bystanders.
This [...]
