Safeway, continued…more on those personalized discounts

July 31st, 2010 · 27 Comments · Food

We’ve been around the track a few times since we first started wrestling with Safeway’s latest promotion, which promises personalized discounts via a computerized system that tracks prior purchases. Safeway calls it “Just for U”. We are still calling it “Not 4 U”. When I last wrote about it, we had finally managed to get [...]

July 30th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Cats, Photographs

A couple of good pictures of Mr. Toby are included among today’s Friday Felines. Actually, all the cats are in this batch. Except Duke. I’m not sure how he escaped the camera this week, but he did. Perhaps its something about the diet. Duke’s going back to the vet on Sunday to have the progress [...]

I stopped at the Apple Store in Kahala yesterday to find out what the wait is for new iPhones. I thought I might order replacements for both of us. I ended up leaving the store about an hour later with two new iPhone 4′s, activated and ready to go. Wallet all lightened up. Now comes [...]

Finding Joe Shollenberger

July 29th, 2010 · 5 Comments · General, History

Just over a year ago, I found this photo of a group of friends from cub scouts hiking up the ridge above Kahala in 1957. I’m in there along with some close friends. It was one of a batch of photos from that day. Last year I tried to track down the other hikers. Chad [...]
