she also showed
me a wonderful example of how to live a life of
independence. I will never forget
her. When my family ( Bob and
Sallie Tostberg, and older brother, Mark ) and I spent the
summer of 1967 in Honolulu I was twelve years old and we
visited Annie's place often. She was so open and "with it"
and she introduced us boys to all sorts of new ideas and
music. I remember listening to her
records like The Moody Blues "In Search of the Lost Chord"
over and over just so we could hear the cool studio effects
zipping back and forth between the speakers. I remember the time we were
discussing marijuana and how she nearly sent my Mom through
the roof when she declared that she would rather see her
children smoking pot than drinking liquor! My brother and I
just thought she was so much fun. I saw her a few more times
over the years and of course she really was fun, but she
also showed me a wonderful example of how to live a life of
independence. I will never forget
her. Paul Tostberg Corvallis, Oregon
