Ann and I, after not seeing each other from the 1950's discovered in the late 1960's that we were going to be flying from LA to NY, and so we had a lovely long renewal of friendship on a perfectly clear day and beautiful flight across the U.S.A. In NY we resolved that never again would we let a decade pass without talking. I kept toying with the idea of going to Hawaii, but by then I had landed in PA and was also a professor. Now I am, as Ann was, a professor-emeritus who taught Women Studies . I deeply regret that I did not accept one of her many invitations to Hawaii. She was just a grand woman.

I will be sending a donation to the address you gave me at the University of Hawaii. Thanks you for telling me.

We grieve together.
