| Several exhibits in the visitors center shared the history of the civil rights struggle and King's role in it. These figures illustrated the march of progess. The man with the crutches is Jim Letherer, who marched with King from Mongtomery to Selma, and later was part of the protest in support of Hawaiian activist Sonny Kaniho in 1974.
