We stopped to get a picture of the Puunene sugar mill, which I believe is the last functioning mill on Maui, and one of the last in the state where sugar was once king. As we stood there, a jet passed by on its final approach before landing at Kahului, providing a chance juxtaposition of the old and new economies.
