UFW Grape & Lettuce Boycott, Honolulu, Hawaii, c.1973
Photographs by Ian Lind, Kaaawa, Hawaii
Responding to a call by the United Farm Workers Union for a nationwide boycott of lettuce and grapes picked by non-union labor, a group of UFW supporters picketed the Holiday Mart store, now known as Daiei. Accompanying the group was a plainclothes police officer who monitored several kinds of protests. I believe this was 1973, although it could have been slightly later.
