Surfers in and around Long Beach, California, 1938-39

In the days before the breakwater was completed, Long Beach was a hot spot for the growing new sport of surfing. I found these photos in a scrapbook belonging to my father, John M. Lind, who moved to Hawaii from Long Beach in 1939. The original photographers are unknown.
