This still beautiful calico is Ms. Miki, the matriarch of the family, born sometime around Halloween 1986 and adopted by us on Christmas morning. Miki is the last of our cats that predate the move to Kaaawa. She's ruled the household for most of her 16+ years, but now, slowed by age and arthritis, she's more like the Queen Mother.

Miki is a a sweetheart, but only with us. When others try to make nice with her, she's all hisses and claws. You can normally find her curled up on our bed or stretched out on top of the television in the bedroom.
She's got wonderful colors, a black mask, and a bit of a Persian profile. |

Mr. Lindsey, the senior male, passed his 10th birthday several months ago. He's a refugee from the parking lot of the McDonalds up the coast in Laie, where he was rescued (along with his sister) as a tiny kitten with huge ears. We adopted Lindsey, and our friends kept Peetie.

Lindsey has always been a wuss, ready to strut his stuff but always anxious to leave the real fighting to others. Smart cat. So he intimidates Pilikia and Anna Banana, two females who live next door, but doesn't even try to challenge Ms. Wally, the current queen of the house. That's Wally in the photo to the right, reminding Lindsey just who's the boss.
