Happy Birthday, Ian. After several days of celebrating our 35th anniversary, I just came up blank on ideas for my birthday dinner. We left it up to the shopping gods--you know, wander the store and go with whatever happens to look good at the time. This normally works pretty well, but yesterday the inspiration just never flowed. We ended up at least with something simple to cook and that I hadn't done in a while--your basic meatloaf. Comfort food, I suppose. Accompanied by baby carrots and three bean salad, baked potatoes, and decent red wine. The cat (Mr. Silverman) came at no additional charge.
