| The power went out in Kaaawa shortly after noon yesterday, and we soon learned why. There was a little problem down at the corner of Hauhele Road and Puakenikeni. A National Guard crew working to dig out a drainage culvert down the block hit an overhead line and then, while backing up to get free, snagged a larger line that snapped the pole in the background (right), which then toppled onto retired postmaster Jarrett Pang's house. Luckily no one was hurt, although I haven't heard an assessment of damage to the home. |
