Mr. Duke will be 11 weeks old on Tuesday.
Sometimes he still looks like a kitten. At other times very
much like a small cat. His patterns continue to slowly
darken, especially on his legs and rear end, although
overall he would still be described as light colored.
Duke and Cybelle make quite a pair. Now that
Duke is beginning adopt the sleeping pattern of an adult
cat, he and Cybelle spend a lot of time sleeping in close
proximity.

And she can often be seen grabbing ahold of
him in order to give a good tongue lashing.
Ms. Cybelle, meanwhile, is calming down in her
new surroundings. She's been exploring new places, including
chairs and tables, whereas initially she absolutely would
not jump up onto anything.

Duke has been trying to get some playing time with the
big cats. Here he's trying to tempt Miki, who isn't much
into playing these days. He's also made several runs which
got Leo very excited, but haven't been repeated.
Cybelle is now scheduled to return to VCA to get "fixed"
later this week. Once that's done, she and Duke can get
slowly introduced to the outside world.
Duke's already very interested. He races to any open door
in an attempt to find out what's out there, which makes
maneuvering entries and exits quite tricky.

We did have one close call yesterday, when Duke somehow
got the string on this dangling toy looped around his head.
If we hadn't been here to extricate him, I'm not sure what
would have happened.
Note Duke's tail in the photo to the right, and you'll
see the white stripe that runs along the underside. The top
is dark and Siamese looking, the bottom white. A designer
tail.

And there continues to be something about Coke boxes that
kittens just can't resist. As long as he fits, at least.
