This is the last issue of The Daily Polynesian, a shipboard newsletter published for some 40 years on the "White Ships" that cruised to Hawaii and the South Pacific for Matson and, later, Pacific Far East Lines, beginning in the 1930s. This issue, dated April 7, 1978, came out on the last day of the final voyage of the S.S. Mariposa. The ship's chief purser and editor of the Polynesian, the late James P. Yonge, was the uncle of iLind.net publisher Ian Yonge Lind.
