If you go by the counter on this page, you’ll see that it’s inching towards 1,000,000 and should hit that mark later today.
I take this as my “official” counter, since it’s been in place since 1999. But it only counts visits to these main pages and not the entire site, which rambles, to put it politely. The majority of daily visits are to other parts of this site, including old photos and such, making the “official” number very conservative.
For example, site statistics gathered by my hosting service provide the following numbers so far in the month of July are quite different.
Daily averages reported by Hostrocket’s Webalizer:

Files 17,622
Pages 6,848
Visits 3,242
Monthly total to date
Hits 313,145
Pages 89,028
Visits 42,147
If I made this the “official” count, I could claim about a million visits a year.
In any case, I’ll have an extra glass of wine when that counter goes to 1000000.

Wow! I have to admit that if it were not for Ryan I would have missed it completely. Okay so I’m little old spec No. 1,000,148. That’s close to another hundred visitors in less than nine hours! Now I’m gonna watch it because I won’t be able to stop myself from looking.
When it hits 2 mil., I’ll have a glass of wine too!
Seriously, Mr. Lind, congratulations! I think this is an occasion worthy of at least another glass! At least!
