Another anniversary & birthday

August 15-17, 2007

Every year it's the same thing. Our anniversary comes first, followed by Ian's birthday two days later. But we aren't very good at celebrating, so every year we wonder how we will manage to observe these auspicious occasions. Every year it's an adventure.

Then it was bedtime, but we werent' the first to get there.

My birthday comes two days later. Every year seems to be the same, despite my best efforts. This year was the big Six-Oh, but I seem to recall something about the "new math" that might be useful.
35
As is often the case after celebrating our anniversary, the birthday was something of an anticlimax.

I jogged off our regular path slightly in the morning to venture across Swanzy Beach Park to the ocean and then look back mauka. Our house is somewhere just below the eof of the ridge that drops down at the left of this photo.

On the beach.

The day's big outing ended up being to Home Depot (hate it!) and Costco, with a stop for lunch in between at Quiznos on the other side of the Costco parking lot where we spit a sandwich. Do we know how to party?
40
No wine, but we did get wine a box of fancy glasses. I think that was supposed to be my present.
41
Coming out of the parking lot, this message caught my eye. I tried not to take it personally.
42
Back home. Cats are, as always, a recurrent theme. Leo was going to attack Ms. Kili, but she turned and gave him a very effective stink eye. He quickly reconsidered his position.

My birthday dinner used some of that Costco charcoal. Sliced potatoes and vegetables grilled on a fire with a bit of meat, an artichoke, and an excellent bottle of McManis cabernet. And so it goes until next year.
