Kimchi making in Korea - 1937

In 1937, University of Hawaii professor and well-known nutritionist Carey D. Miller traveled to Europe and Asia. These photos depict the making of kimchee during a stop in Korea. A note on one page indicates the photographs were "made in Korea in 1937 by Dr. Boots expecially for CDM". The final photo refers to Ewah College, probably a misspelling of Ewha Women's College in Seoul, Korea.

The photos themselves appear to be contact prints from small negatives, each about an inch across, and are mounted on two pages with captions. I've scanned those two full pages, which appear first, and then enlarged copies of each of the photographs.

These photos were among Miller's possessions when she died in 1985, and have been held by my mother, Helen Yonge Lind, since that time. She only recently ran across them while sorting her old files.
